Acceptance Information

All qualified early bird applicants are guaranteed acceptance for the 2027 Tennessee Arts Academy Summer Institute. If you sign-up after the March 1, 2027 early registration deadline date, your application will be considered in order of the date your application was received, alongside all other eligible candidates for admission to the 2027 Tennessee Arts Academy Summer Institute. Please note that classes often fill early, so applicants who register after March 1 are not guaranteed a slot. The earlier you apply the better chance you have of being accepted. First time applicants receive priority.

Application Instructions:

Please complete all applicable sections. When finished, click on the submit button. You will receive an e-mail at the primary e-mail address listed that indicates your application form has been received in the TAA office. [NOTE: Questions #35-#36-#37 will require you to know some information about your general school student population. You may wish to look at these questions prior to completing the application.]

Acceptance Letter Email:

All "accepted" applicants will receive an acceptance letter email along with their notification status from the TAA office. The acceptance letter email will contain specific information on how and where to complete various registration documents, as well as payment instructions. Acceptance letter emails (if you are accepted) are normally sent no later than two weeks after you have submitted your online application. Feel free to check with the TAA office (taa@tnartsacademy.org or 615-988-6250) if you have not received your status notification and/or acceptance letter email within this time frame.

Notification of Status:

Notification of status ("accepted", "wait list" or "not accepted") will be e-mailed after you apply. As soon as spots become available, applicants placed on the wait list will be moved into the "accepted" category and immediately notified of their new status. [NOTE: Typically a large number of applicants on the wait list are eventually moved into the "accepted" category].

BACK FOR 2027!

ELEMENTARY THEATRE FOCUS AREA:

ARTS INTEGRATION, CREATIVE DRAMA and MOVEMENT

Please Note: These classes are especially designed for classroom generalist teachers, librarians, special education, physical education, and gifted teachers.

The 2027 Elementary Theatre track includes three areas of study: arts integration, creative drama, and movement. Participants attend one class in each area daily. In the arts integration classes, strategies are explored using the fine and performing arts to help facilitate learning across the entire curriculum; creative drama classes focus on ways teachers can use improvisational and non-performance aspects of theatre to create unique learning experiences; the movement classes participants learn to process, analyze and respond to sensory information through the language and skills distinct to dance.

TRIO TRACK

"Trio Track" offers a daily multidisciplinary experience that allows participants to attend a pre-designated class each day in music, theatre, and visual art. Participants attend the same core classes daily for the entire week, allowing complete immersion in one topic for each arts discipline. Like all TAA participants, teachers enrolled in Trio Track will attend all Summer Institute performances, musings, interludes and special events. Space in these classes is limited.

Do not mail any fees until you have received an acceptance packet. An optional installment payment plan is available for all K-12 Tennessee applicants.

For those participants in need of housing for 2027, TAA offers the following three options:

1) TAA Contracted Hotel Housing: For maximum comfort, we strongly recommend you consider this option. TAA has secured housing in an area hotel that includes free parking, free breakfast, free internet, pool, and fitness center. TAA has received an excellent low-cost group rate, so this year, participants will pay TAA directly for the room. If you have a friend or colleague with whom you wish to share the room, or if you prefer to be paired with another TAA participant, then the room price will be halved. Availability is first-come, first-served.

2) On-Campus Dormitory Style Housing: On-Campus dormitory style housing will have limited capacity in 2027. TAA participants who choose to stay in on-campus dormitory housing will have a private bedroom and may choose between a community bathroom-style dorm or a dorm with a semi-private bathroom shared between either two or four participants. There is a very limited supply of the semi-private bathroom dorms, and these dorms will be first-come, first-served based on when TAA receives payment.

3) Housing On Your Own: TAA will offer discount codes to other hotels in the area if you wish to make your own arrangements. You may also consider sharing with colleagues in short-term rental accommodations (i.e. AirBnB, VRBO, etc.), as there are many options in the Murfreesboro area.

** Please Note: The current plans are for the TAA Summer Institute to be an on-campus experience. If travel, activity, occupancy, or assembly advisories or restrictions are issued or imposed by federal, state, or local health and governmental authorities, and/or by Middle Tennessee State University, the Tennessee Arts Academy Summer Institute will switch to a virtual event and will alert all registered participants at the earliest possible date as soon as a decision has been made.
